if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. -- 2 Chronicles 7:14
According to this passage of Scripture, we, as Believers in Christ, need to:
1. Humble Ourselves.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion! Declare His deeds among the people. When He avenges blood, He remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble. -- Psalm 9:10-12
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” -- James 4:6
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. -- James 4:10
2. Pray.
As for me, I will call upon God, And the LORD shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice. -- Psalm 55:16-17
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. -- James 5:16
3. Seek God's face meaning we need to search out God.
Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the LORD; -- Lamentations 3:40
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. -- Matthew 6:33
4. Turn from our wicked ways (sin) meaning we need to repent.
I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’ -- Acts 26:17-18
There are consequences for rejecting Jehovah and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people. -- Proverbs 14:34 (Note: Reproach means disgrace or shame.)
The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God. -- Psalm 9:17
If we humble ourselves, pray, search out God (Jehovah), and repent He will do three things for us.
1. Hear our prayers.
Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand. -- Psalm 20:6
2. Forgive our sins.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. -- 1 John 1:9
3. Heal our land.
Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy, To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine. -- Psalm 33:18-19
All of this begins with true repentance. One description of true repentance can be found in the book of Romans.
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” -- Romans 10:9-13
