And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word. -- 1 Kings 18:21
To apply this to our lives today it would read something like this: How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if money, social status, or material possessions, follow them.
Who do you serve?
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. -- Matthew 6:22-24
How do we know who is serious about their faith in God? As the saying goes, "Actions speak louder than words."
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. -- Matthew 7:15-20
As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man. -- Proverbs 27:19
If someone loves the things of this world, the love of God is not in them.
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. -- 1 John 2:15-17
Only those that submit their lives totally to God will enter the kingdom of heaven.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ -- Matthew 7:21-23
Actions and words are what defiles a person.
There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man. -- Mark 7:15
If someone loves God their actions will prove it.
If you love Me, keep My commandments. -- John 14:15
Also, if one desires to be great in Gods kingdom they must be a servant.
And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” -- Mark 9:35
They have to love their enemies.
But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. -- Luke 6:27-28
If we confess Christ before men, He will confess us before the angels of God.
Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God. But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God. -- Luke 12:8-9
We confess Christ by our actions.
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ -- Matthew 25:37-40
Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. -- Luke 9:23-24
